Skip Cleavinger is a remarkable professional who currently holds a position as English Learner Program Consultant at GRREC. With over 33 years of experience in education, Skip has dedicated his career to helping educators and educational leaders provide equitable access and opportunities for all students.

Before joining GRREC, Skip served as a School Psychologist in Bardstown Independent Schools and Warren County Schools. He later became the English Learner Assessment Coordinator and the English Learner Program Director, where he made significant contributions to the field. In addition, Skip served as the Local Education Agency representative for Kentucky for the WIDA Consortium governing body from 2017-2019 and was a founding member of the Kentucky Coalition for English Learners.

Skip earned a Bachelor's degree in Psychology and English, as well as a Master's degree in School Psychology, both from Western Kentucky University. He is also affiliated with the Kentucky Coalition for English Learners and the Prichard Committee for Academic Excellence. Moreover, he was the principal author of the Warren County Schools Equity Scorecard from 2016-2019.

What Skip enjoys most about his work is his passion for helping learners and historically underserved student groups. With his personal connection to a sibling with cognitive disabilities, he has always focused on creating equitable access and opportunities for all students. He is dedicated to improving instruction and support for English Learners/Multilingual Learners and their families.
